What Is GPA?
GPA stands for Grade Point Average. It summarizes academic performance using the grade points and credit hours of courses.
GPA Formula
GPA = Total (Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours
Example
Suppose a student earns 4.0 grade points in a 3-credit course and 3.0 grade points in a 2-credit course.
GPA = ((4.0 × 3) + (3.0 × 2)) ÷ (3 + 2) = 18 ÷ 5 = 3.60.
